One of ACCEDE’s key linkages is the research partnership with the Development Research Centre of Citizenship, Participation and Accountability led by the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, U.K. The DRC has brought together researchers and research institutions from India, Mexico, Angola, Brazil, Nigeria, Kenya and Bangladesh in joint research over the past seven years. The network was established in 2000 and is funded until the end of 2010. A number of comparative synthesis projects have begun between southern partners and the network is seeking funding to build new research programmes on the basis of the consolidated comparative work beyond 2010. The ACCEDE research team are involved in several of these projects, including projects on Mobilisation and the State, States and Citizenship, Intermediaries and the State, African Partners, and Teaching and Learning.
DRC research partners include:
- Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), India;
- Bangladesh Institute for Development Studies (BIDS), Bangladesh;
- Social Research Institute at the University of Mexico (Mexico);
- Brazilian Centre for Analysis and Planning, CEBRAP (Brazil),
- Theatre for Development Center (TFDC) Nigeria;
- ADRA, Angola.
