The Centre aims to generate academic research in the areas of citizenship, participation, development and democracy. As part of this initiative, occasional monographs and working papers are published. A Monograph entitled Participatory Governance? Citizens and the State in South Africa edited by Lisa Thompson was released in September 2007. The monograph contains chapters distilling out essential policy messages of their DRC research by each of the members of the team. The monograph has been distributed widely in government and to all major national and international libraries.
The monograph is available free of charge on this website. Click on publications available for downloading. Professor Thompson and Professor Chris Tapscott have editing a collection of case studies on social activism and participation in the South. Entitled, Citizenship, Mobilisation and Social Movements in the South: The challenges of Inclusive Governance? The book forms a major part of the Centre’s ongoing research involvement within the DRC at Sussex University. The book contains chapters from many of the DRC partners in the South. A short description of the book is available for downloading. Click on Publications available for downloading. A number of occasional papers and working documents are available from ACCEDE.
